The reasons the company gives
The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.Sluggish sales of transportation equipment-related and battery-related products due to weak automobile production, a decline in high-margin products, and lower utilization in the United States contributed to the declines in revenue and profit. Sales to the communications equipment, electronic component manufacturing process, and industrial equipment markets provided support. Net income fell short of the forecast due to the recording of an impairment loss.
