The reasons the company gives
The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.Amid continued weakness in domestic housing starts and elevated costs, the recovery in revenue at the New Zealand subsidiary, which had been sluggish in the year-earlier period, contributed to higher revenue. Profit remained weak, however, as the effect of the sales price revision applicable to orders received from 22 June had not yet been reflected, while proceeds from the sale of emissions allowances recorded by the New Zealand subsidiary in the previous fiscal year fell away and foreign exchange gains declined. Higher fuel costs also reduced operating income in the power generation business.
