The reasons the company gives
The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.Contributions from new group companies acquired through M&A, higher operating profit in the environmental and content businesses, and lower depreciation and lease expenses were factors driving higher profit. These gains were offset by increases in material prices, electricity and fuel costs, personnel and labor costs, and raw material costs, as well as higher amortization of goodwill and M&A expenses, which pushed down operating profit. Net profit was also affected by the absence of the extraordinary gain on the sale of shares recorded in the previous fiscal year.
