The reasons the company gives
The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers. For the fiscal year ended March 2026, higher earnings in the measurement and weighing instruments business and improved profitability in DSP equipment pushed up operating profit, while higher costs, including US tariffs, overseas personnel expenses and sales promotion expenses, weighed on profit. The decline in net income was due to the recognition as an extraordinary loss of ¥552 million in corrective measures related to violations of the Measurement Act and ¥243 million in embezzlement losses at a Korean subsidiary. The plan revisions from the fiscal year ending March 2027 onward reflect adjustments in semiconductor investment in the Chinese market, slower growth in the EV-related market, US tariffs and the impact of foreign exchange movements.
