Factors Behind Changes in Business Performance

Revenue in the photo-related business declined due to sluggish sales of some OEM product models, but the surveillance and FA-related business and the mobility, healthcare and other business posted double-digit revenue growth. Overall revenue increased, also benefiting from the positive foreign exchange impact of the weaker yen. Profit was affected by lower revenue in the photo-related business, higher personnel costs and increased SG&A expenses due to stepped-up research and development spending.

The reasons the company gives

The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.

In the photo-related business, sales of some OEM products continued to be sluggish, while the surveillance and FA-related business and the mobility, healthcare and other business posted double-digit revenue growth. The weaker yen also boosted revenue. On the profit front, the increase in SG&A expenses, including higher personnel costs reflecting rising prices and increased research and development expenses, had an impact in addition to the decline in revenue from the photo-related business.
