「The company adopted the Accounting Standard for Revenue Recognition (ASBJ Statement No. 29, 31 March 2020; hereinafter, the “Revenue Recognition Standard”) from the beginning of the first quarter of the current fiscal year. Revenue is recognized at the amount expected to be received in exchange for promised goods or services when control of those goods or services transfers to the customer. As a result, for revenue from certain tenants in the supermarket business, the company previously recognized the total consideration received from customers as revenue. For transactions in which the company acts as an agent in providing goods or services to customers, however, revenue is now recognized on a net basis, after deducting amounts paid to suppliers and others from the amounts received from customers.」
The company adopted the Revenue Recognition Standard from the beginning of the current quarterly accounting period and changed the presentation of transactions with certain tenants from a gross basis to a net basis. As a result, quarterly net sales and cost of sales each decreased by ¥100.841 million, with no impact on the opening balance of retained earnings.
