Segment profit increased 19.4% year on year to ¥221 million, due to higher revenue and cost reductions from improved productivity in manufacturing and other factors. [Europe] Despite contributions from sales of newly ordered products, revenue was ¥751 million, down 4.8% year on year, due to the impact of production cuts by major automotive customers. Segment profit increased 256.2% year on year to ¥97 million, due to price revisions, lower procurement costs and a decline in selling, general and administrative expenses. Segment profit was ¥219 million (down 75.8%), due to the decline in revenue.〔Americas〕Operating suspensions and lower production at major customer manufacturers in both the United States and Mexico due to the spread of COVID-19 caused revenue to fall to ¥2,482 million (down 36.3% year on year). Segment profit was ¥66 million (down 80.5%), with the decline in U.S. revenue having a significant impact.〔China〕Although production volumes have been recovering since April, partly due to government policies promoting consumption, the impact of operating suspensions and lower production at major customer manufacturers from February to March remained significant. Segment profit was ¥53 million (down 75.3%), with the decline in revenue having a significant impact.〔Europe〕The sluggish sales volumes of Japanese automakers since the first half of the previous fiscal year, combined with the spread of COVID-19, led to a substantial decline in production at major customer manufacturers. Revenue was ¥339 million (down 53.5% year on year). Segment loss was ¥78 million, due to lower revenue, higher procurement costs for imported products resulting from the weaker pound, and site consolidation costs and other factors (compared with a segment loss of ¥15 million in the same period of the previous year).〔Taiwan〕Revenue declined as exports to group companies decreased. Segment profit consequently fell to ¥15 million (down 44.5% year on year).」
