Reason for the revision

In the core Poplar and Seikatsu Saika business, customer numbers fell below the previous year from September onward due partly to the impact of competing stores, while external sales from the company's prepared-meal factory and the Lawson-Poplar business performed well. On the profit side, costs increased due to higher raw material prices and logistics costs, and upfront expenses were incurred, including personnel expenses to establish a production increase structure associated with the operation of tunnel-type freezer equipment. In addition, the estimate for corporate income taxes and other taxes was revised because non-consolidated results are expected to fall below plan.

Previous-period resultsOperating revenue ¥12,028 million, operating profit ¥408 million, ordinary profit ¥412 million, net income attributable to owners of the parent ¥376 million, earnings per share ¥28.07

The reasons the company gives

The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.

In the core Poplar and Seikatsu Saika business, customer numbers fell below the previous year from September onward due partly to the impact of competing stores. However, external sales from the company's prepared-meal factory and the Lawson-Poplar business performed well, resulting in operating revenue exceeding the previous forecast. On the profit side, in addition to higher raw material prices and logistics costs, upfront expenses were incurred, including personnel expenses to establish a production increase structure associated with the operation of tunnel-type freezer equipment. In addition, net income is expected to fall below the forecast following a revision to the estimate for corporate income taxes and other taxes due to weaker-than-expected non-consolidated results.
