The reasons the company gives
The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers. The company attributed the return to profitability in ordinary profit and net profit to a ¥68 million foreign exchange gain. In the professional-use business, it cited growth in the nonresidential sector; in the home-use business, increased e-commerce sales; and overseas, improved gross margins at sales subsidiaries in Europe and the United States. The decline in gross margin was attributed to higher raw material costs, while the decrease in selling, general and administrative expenses reflected the company’s review of investment returns before proceeding.
