The reasons the company gives
The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.Although a recovery in same-store sales was expected in the fourth quarter, same-store sales in February and March remained below the year-earlier period, and unplanned franchise store closures also occurred, causing revenue to fall below forecast. On the earnings side, gross profit decreased as a result of the revenue shortfall, while personnel expenses, promotional expenses and other costs exceeded expectations. In addition, net income fell below forecast due in part to the recognition of impairment losses.
