The reasons the company gives
The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers. For the fiscal year ended May 2026, demand increased for materials procurement by certain customers in response to the situation in the Middle East, as well as for domestic AI-related products, pharmaceutical-related products, overseas optical products, domestic cosmetics and wet products. Gross profit increased due to higher sales, cost reductions and appropriate pricing adjustments. The increase in gross profit absorbed the rise in selling, general and administrative expenses, resulting in higher operating profit. Ordinary profit increased due to higher dividend income and foreign exchange gains, among other factors. For the fiscal year ending May 2027, demand related to AI and data centers is expected to remain strong, while sales of domestic cosmetic products are expected to decline. Strategic budget allocations are also planned for securing personnel, market research and research and development expenses.
