Factors Behind Changes in Business Performance

Investment in equipment by automotive-related companies became more cautious due to US tariff policies and other factors, causing sales of automotive and automotive-parts-related products to stagnate. Meanwhile, sales of semiconductor manufacturing equipment and data-center equipment performed well, driven by investment in data-center expansion accompanying the spread of generative AI and growing demand for high-performance semiconductors. Overseas, sales of industrial robots fell below the year-earlier level due to concerns about deflation in China and sluggish personal consumption, but consolidated revenue was roughly in line with the year-earlier period after foreign-currency translation reflecting the weaker yen.
