「As a result, revenue was ¥884.8 million, up 5.4% year on year, and operating profit was ¥74.6 million, up 14.2%. Competition with other companies in the home-improvement retail industry and with companies in other sectors continues to intensify. Against this backdrop, we worked to differentiate ourselves from other stores by improving customer satisfaction and strengthening customer service. However, stay-at-home demand resulting from the impact of COVID-19 showed signs of easing, resulting in revenue of ¥1,657.5 million, down 0.3% year on year, and operating profit of ¥136.2 million, down 8.7%. We focused on the appropriate management and efficient operation of rental assets, resulting in revenue of ¥27.9 million, up 6.7% year on year, and operating profit of ¥20.0 million, up 5.4%. Although we worked to improve productivity through more efficient operations and reduce expenses, partly due to the rebound from the previous year's downturn caused by the spread of COVID-19, revenue was ¥61.5 million, up 5.5% year on year, and operating profit was ¥6.8 million, up 771.8%. We worked to improve operational efficiency by thoroughly implementing the fundamentals of design, supervision and construction at worksites, resulting in revenue of ¥90.7 million, down 1.7% year on year, and operating profit of ¥3.5 million, up 28.8%.」

Wholesale posted higher revenue and profit; retail posted lower revenue and profit as stay-at-home demand eased; real estate posted higher revenue and profit; scaffolding rental posted higher revenue and a significant increase in profit due to the rebound effect; and sash and glass installation posted higher profit despite lower revenue.
