Commercial karaoke revenue declined due to lower product sales, but segment profit increased as a result of higher gross profit from recurring revenue and lower selling, general and administrative expenses. Karaoke and food-service outlets reported higher revenue due to increased sales at existing outlets and an increase in the number of outlets through new openings and M&A, but segment profit declined because of higher opening costs and running costs, including food ingredients. Music software posted higher revenue and profit, with new releases and other products contributing to earnings. Other businesses reported higher revenue and profit, mainly due to increased parking business revenue. Company-wide net profit declined due to the absence of gains on sales of property, plant and equipment and other fixed assets recorded in the same period of the previous year, among other factors.

The reasons the company gives
The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.Operating profit benefited from higher gross profit from recurring revenue, including equipment rental fees and information service fees, as well as lower selling, general and administrative expenses, including promotion costs.
