The reasons the company gives
The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers. The number of member stores declined despite the near-completion of store rationalization through specific agencies, due to a decrease in the number of new stores joining through the agency channel and a change in the acquisition strategy for the full usage-based plan. In addition, a temporary increase in lower-priced corporate plans and the migration of paying member stores to lower-priced plans restrained the increase in ARPU. Operating income increased due to decreases in cost of sales and selling, general and administrative expenses, while interim net income declined, primarily due to the recognition of ¥7 million in impairment losses.
