「The drum brakes, the Company’s main products installed on trucks, are a type of drum brake that evolved independently in Japan, whereas conventional drum brakes remain the mainstay in North America, Asia and other markets. Recently, in China, stricter brake regulations have led to the introduction of disc brakes, which are widely used in Europe, on certain vehicle models. In Japan as well, the Company’s main drum brakes, which offer equivalent performance, face the risk of competition from disc brakes. If disc brakes become more widespread in Japan’s ordinary truck market, the Company’s business performance could be materially affected. In addition, commercial vehicles, including buses and small- to medium-sized vehicles, are beginning to transition to EVs. This could reduce demand for the Company’s pumps and affect its business performance.」
The Company newly identified as a risk the possibility that the demand mix for its mainstay drum brakes and pumps could change as disc brakes are introduced and become more widespread and commercial vehicles transition to EVs.
