The reasons the company gives
The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.Net sales increased despite the impact of production adjustments at certain customers in Japan due to a slowdown in end demand, supported by front-loaded demand ahead of the implementation of additional US tariffs, the foreign-exchange translation effect of yen depreciation, and progress in adjusting selling prices in response to higher raw material prices. The increases in net sales, the foreign-exchange effect of yen depreciation and the benefits of profitability improvement initiatives more than offset higher labor costs from wage increases and higher procurement costs, resulting in higher operating profit and ordinary profit. Net income attributable to owners of the parent declined because the company recorded extraordinary losses, including impairment losses on production facilities and other assets, provisions for environmental measures, and valuation losses on investment securities.
