The reasons the company gives
The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.Revenue increased because operations at the ASEAN and India bases remained solid, and sales at the China base increased following changes in distribution channels for certain customers. Operating profit declined mainly because of higher manufacturing costs resulting from delays in productivity improvements at the North American bases, appreciation of the Mexican peso against the US dollar, and higher domestic personnel expenses. In the Gas Techno business, weak demand caused by the downturn in China's residential market and intensifying competition had an impact.
