Sales increased owing to strong domestic mail-order sales, growth in product sales in Asia, particularly Thailand, and in China, and improved inventory conditions in North America. Operating profit increased mainly because of the effects of transferring production for products sold to the United States to Japan and a reduction in cost of sales resulting from the ¥107 million refund of tariffs on U.S.-bound products borne in the previous fiscal year.

The reasons the company gives
The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers. In Japan, mail-order sales remained strong, while sales of products including the EnduraPro series grew in Asia, particularly Thailand, and in China. In North America, improved inventory conditions lifted sales above the year-earlier level. On the profit side, the transfer of production for products sold to the United States to Japan, together with a ¥107 million refund of tariffs on U.S.-bound products borne in the previous fiscal year, led to a reduction in cost of sales.
