The reasons the company gives
The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers. In the first quarter, profit was maintained at approximately the same level as in the prior-year period, supported by foreign exchange effects, cost improvements, expanded value-chain earnings, and higher HEV sales. The upward revision to the full-year forecast reflects changes in the external environment, including foreign exchange assumptions, as well as operating efforts such as establishing alternative logistics routes to the Middle East.
