Factors Behind Changes in Business Performance

Interest on loans increased by ¥2.9 billion year on year, reflecting an increase in loans from the promotion of primary banking relationships and stronger customer relationships, as well as higher loan yields due to higher policy interest rates and other factors. Interest and dividends on securities increased by ¥0.6 billion, mainly due to higher fund income. Other funds-related income decreased by ¥1.9 billion due to higher interest expenses on deposits and other funding. Non-interest revenue increased by ¥2.6 billion, mainly due to lower hedging costs for yen-denominated bonds. Expenses decreased by ¥0.3 billion, credit-related costs decreased by ¥1.3 billion due to the recognition of allowance for loan losses resulting from deteriorating credit quality at certain large borrowers, and gains and losses on bonds, shares and other securities increased by ¥0.7 billion.

The reasons the company gives

The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.

Loans increased as the company promoted the development of primary banking relationships and strengthened customer relationships, while loan yields also rose due to higher policy interest rates and other factors. Interest and dividends on securities and non-interest revenue increased, and hedging costs for yen-denominated bonds decreased. Meanwhile, interest expenses on deposits and other funding, expenses, and credit-related costs weighed on profit.
