The reasons the company gives
The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers. In electronic equipment, revenue declined due to planned shipment reductions following the termination of certain businesses, the backlash from the previous fiscal year's last buy of in-house products associated with the change in the business scheme for OLED displays, and the completion of the last buy for out-cell touch sensors. In production equipment, the decline was affected by weak market conditions in South Korea and Japan, increased imports of low-priced Chinese products, an inadequate response to price competition, and planned sales reductions resulting from the reorganization of production bases in China. The operating loss widened due to lower revenue and deterioration in inventory-related gains and losses for touch sensors, although structural reforms generated cost savings. Net income turned positive due to a ¥3.4 billion gain on the sale of real estate and gains on the liquidation of subsidiaries.
