The reasons the company gives
The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.Growing consumer preference for savings and intensifying competition in Japan's home-appliance market, particularly sluggish sales of household refrigerators and washing machines, reduced sales and earnings. The Company also recorded a net loss due to company-wide business restructuring costs, one-time costs related to future earnings improvement, and a review of tax-effect accounting. In the FPSC business, orders declined after major customers revised their inventory plans in response to the impact of U.S. trade policy.
