The reasons the company gives
The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.Market competition intensified due to consumers’ increased focus on saving, the shift by mass retailers toward private-label manufacturing and retailing, and aggressive competition from major Chinese home appliance manufacturers, partly as a result of U.S. tariffs on Chinese imports. Sales of household refrigerators and washing machines fell sharply. Profit was also pressured by a substantial decline in fourth-quarter revenue, higher inventory storage fees, disposal costs for products and components, and inventory valuation losses.
