The reasons the company gives
The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers. In the semiconductor business, sales of discrete chips increased, but losses continued due to prolonged inventory adjustments for power modules, stagnation in the Chinese market, and higher fixed costs, including personnel expenses and depreciation. In the power equipment business, growth in general industrial power supplies, inverters and maintenance services, together with higher value added in large-scale projects, contributed to higher revenue and profit, while sales of small embedded power supplies for medical equipment declined. The factors behind the change in operating profit were presented as higher revenue, a deterioration in the contribution margin, higher fixed costs, changes in inventories and foreign exchange effects.
