The reasons the company gives
The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.Although net sales were broadly in line with the plan, operating income was below the forecast due to higher raw material prices and increased research and development expenses for next-generation products. Income from technology fees received and foreign exchange gains supported ordinary income, while profit attributable to owners of the parent was below the forecast due to impairment losses arising from the decline in the profitability of assets and other factors. The differences in individual actual results were attributable to largely the same factors.
