The reasons the company gives
The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.Revenue increased due to the accumulation of sales projects and solid overseas sales in the healthcare and V&S markets. Operating profit increased due to the effect of higher revenue, foreign-exchange gains from the weaker yen and stronger euro, fixed-cost reductions from the restructuring and streamlining of the organizational structure in Europe, and the absence of one-time expenses related to the new technology building recorded in the same quarter of the previous fiscal year. The company cited responding to changes in net assets caused by fluctuations in the prices of investment securities, as well as improving capital efficiency and total shareholder return, as reasons for expanding the share buyback authorization.
