The reasons the company gives

The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.

Sales of blood collection tube preparation equipment and systems grew in both the domestic and overseas markets. Sales to planned large-scale facility projects and sales of compact models in the Asian market progressed steadily. Selling, general and administrative expenses decreased, mainly because research and development expenses were lower than in the previous fiscal year. Meanwhile, costs associated with discontinuing the manufacture of certain models of blood collection tube preparation equipment were recorded as extraordinary losses.
