The reasons the company gives
The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.Consolidated net sales, operating income, and ordinary income exceeded forecasts as global business conditions remained firm, particularly in China and the United States, supported by the elimination of domestic and overseas distribution inventories and a recovery in demand in major industries such as machine tools, robotics, and semiconductors. Non-consolidated net income declined because gains on the sale of shares of affiliated companies were recorded in the prior fiscal year, while impairment losses on shares of affiliated companies and other losses were recognized in the current fiscal year.
