The reasons the company gives

The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.

Profit increased in the current fiscal year due to the introduction and shipment of second-generation smart meters, higher sales in the UK, improved margins in the switchboard business, improved margins in overseas operations, and lower selling, general and administrative expenses following organizational restructuring. Net income increased despite the recognition of losses on business withdrawals and business restructuring costs, mainly because gains were recognized on the sale of cross-shareholdings and real estate. In the next fiscal year, profitability is expected to improve through the introduction of second-generation smart meters, expanded sales of new products and sales of NEOS, while overseas revenue is expected to decline due to the withdrawal from the Middle East and Africa and the expected peak-out in demand for UK projects.
