「The Company decided to transfer W-SCOPE KOREA CO., LTD., a subsidiary of the Company (hereinafter, “WSK”),’s No. 3 plant, comprising 14 coating lines and all associated equipment, to W-SCOPE CHUNGJU CO., LTD., another subsidiary of the Company (hereinafter, “WCP”), by the end of August. Some products manufactured by WCP had previously been coated at WSK. By transferring WSK’s No. 3 plant, which is dedicated to coating equipment, to WCP, the Company will consolidate the manufacturing process at WCP. The purpose of this measure is to specialize WCP as a company engaged in the separator business for lithium-ion secondary batteries and WSK as a company engaged in the membrane film (ion-exchange membrane) business. This is the first stage of the initiative.」
The plan to transfer the 14 coating lines and other equipment at WSK’s No. 3 plant to WCP by the end of August and consolidate the separator manufacturing process at WCP was documented for the first time. WCP and WSK are being specialized as a separator business company and an ion-exchange membrane business company, respectively, as the first stage of efforts to improve WCP’s production efficiency, reduce intercompany transactions and concentrate WSK’s management resources.
