Stacked from zero: upward is an increase in cash, downward a decrease (in ¥ million). The net change represented by the dotted line is the total of three items, calculated from figures provided by the company.
Although orders were strong in the new automatic door division and the building fixtures-related business, many projects involved long construction periods and did not generate revenue during the fiscal year. Revenue also declined following the completion of large-scale projects in the previous period. Operating income and ordinary income decreased because increases in personnel-related investment expenses and costs associated with the launch of a new core system could not be absorbed. Net income also declined because of an ¥87 million impairment loss on fixed assets, including goodwill, held by a subsidiary.

The reasons the company gives
The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.Revenue declined because many projects involved long construction periods and did not generate revenue during the fiscal year, while revenue also fell following the completion of large-scale projects in the previous period. On the profit side, the company was unable to absorb increases in personnel-related investment expenses and costs associated with the launch of a new core system. In addition, impairment losses were recorded on fixed assets held by a subsidiary, contributing to the decline in profit.
