The reasons the company gives
The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.Operating income increased as the company focused on improving productivity, enforcing cost controls and winning orders for high-margin projects, while PMI following the M&A of 株式会社アスティ progressed and performance remained strong. In addition, higher crude oil prices drove up electricity futures prices, increasing the valuation gain on electricity futures at an equity-method affiliate and resulting in the recognition of equity in earnings of affiliates.
