Factors Behind Changes in Business Performance

In the industrial equipment-related business, sales of products for oil plants, the energy market, the chemical market and the marine market increased. In the electronic equipment-related business, sales of products for semiconductor and LCD manufacturing equipment increased due to investment in advanced semiconductors and expanding demand in the Chinese market, covering the decline in revenue from the seismic isolation business. From the fourth quarter onward, the semiconductor market recovered and orders rebounded sharply.

The reasons the company gives

The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.

In the industrial equipment-related business, sales increased due to large-scale repair projects for oil plants, nuclear plant restarts and scheduled maintenance projects, demand for spare parts in the chemical market, and expanding demand in the marine market. In the electronic equipment-related business, sales of products for semiconductor and LCD manufacturing equipment increased against a backdrop of investment in advanced semiconductors, particularly those related to generative AI, and expanding demand in the Chinese market, offsetting the decline in revenue from the seismic isolation business. From the fourth quarter onward, the semiconductor market recovered and orders rebounded sharply.
