Net sales increased due mainly to a recovery in demand in the construction equipment sectors in Europe, the United States and China and in the aftermarket sector in ASEAN, as well as increased demand in the industrial equipment sector in the Americas. Operating income increased due to fixed-cost reductions from structural reforms, the pass-through of higher raw material costs into selling prices, automation and streamlining of production lines, and procurement cost reductions. Net income attributable to owners of the parent decreased due mainly to the recognition of ¥164 million in structural reform expenses as an extraordinary loss.
