The reasons the company gives
The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers. In the printing equipment-related business, the benefits of integrating the inkjet head business and the yen's depreciation against foreign currencies contributed to higher revenue, while sales continued to decline in Japan's stencil printing business and sales of main units decreased in the overseas inkjet business. Selling, general and administrative expenses increased due to the business integration and the yen's depreciation against foreign currencies, among other factors, putting downward pressure on operating profit. Net income increased due to foreign exchange gains, gains on sales of investment securities, and the absence of the restructuring costs recognized in the previous fiscal year. For the next fiscal year, revenue is expected to increase following the succession of the business of a Philippine distributor, while operating profit is expected to decline due to one-time expenses and amortization of goodwill.
