Reason for the revision

Following the finalization of the market launch of the new hydraulic excavator series, the Company accelerated flexible sales of inventory products in the fourth quarter, resulting in revenue close to the previous forecast. Profit was below forecast due to sales initiatives aimed at quickly bringing inventory levels to an appropriate level, restrained factory operations, deterioration in the manufacturing cost ratio caused by higher material prices and logistics costs, and the recognition of various expenses related to the development of new models.

The reasons the company gives

The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.

Revenue was close to the previous forecast because, following the finalization of the market launch of the new hydraulic excavator series, the Company accelerated flexible sales of inventory products in the fourth quarter. Profit was below forecast due to sales initiatives aimed at quickly bringing inventory levels to an appropriate level, restrained factory operations, deterioration in the manufacturing cost ratio caused by higher material prices and logistics costs, and the recognition of various expenses related to the development of new models. Although the Company recorded an extraordinary gain upon completion of the transfer of its interest in a Chinese subsidiary, net income was below the previous forecast due to the factors described above.
