Cost of sales decreased 4.8% year on year, while selling, general and administrative expenses decreased 10.8%. The decrease in selling, general and administrative expenses was due mainly to the actuarial difference related to prepaid pension expenses being recorded in a lump sum in the first quarter as an unfavorable variance of ¥43 million in the previous fiscal year and a favorable variance of ¥31 million in the current fiscal year. The increase in sales to thermal and nuclear power plants, among others, also contributed.

The reasons the company gives
The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers. This was due to decreases in cost of sales and selling, general and administrative expenses. Selling, general and administrative expenses decreased by a total of ¥75 million, mainly because an unfavorable variance of ¥43 million related to prepaid pension expenses was recorded in the previous fiscal year, whereas a favorable variance of ¥31 million was recorded in a lump sum in the first quarter of the current fiscal year. The increase in sales to thermal and nuclear power plants, among others, also contributed. The full-year forecast has not been changed because it is currently difficult to forecast sales and expenses and reasonably calculate profit.
