The reasons the company gives
The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.Domestic capital investment and exports remained solid, the U.S. economy was firm, and a gradual recovery was also seen in Europe. As orders increased, net sales and operating income rose in Mechatronics and other businesses, while operating income declined in Logistics & Construction due to higher costs in the North American business. In Energy & Lifeline, net sales declined because there were fewer projects contributing to sales, but operating income increased mainly because of improved project profitability for biomass power generation facilities.
