The reasons the company gives
The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers. In Japan, sales of mechatronics products increased following the launch of a new printer, while supply sales benefited from front-loaded demand ahead of worsening conditions in the Middle East and price revisions. Overseas revenue increased, but profit declined due to higher selling, general and administrative expenses and personnel costs in Europe, lower plant profitability and continued competition in the Primary business. The upward revision to the full-year forecasts reflects strong first-quarter performance in Japan and the inclusion of the newly consolidated company.
