Factors Behind Changes in Business Performance

The Japan business reported higher revenue and higher profit, while the overseas business reported higher revenue but lower profit. In Japan, performance benefited from large strategic business negotiations, demand related to compliance with the Logistics Efficiency Act, efficiency investments by manufacturers, and increased sales of new printers. Overseas, higher costs in Europe (Russia) reduced profit amid lower demand resulting from the competitive environment and tax changes in Europe, as well as foreign exchange effects.
