Factors Behind Changes in Business Performance

Demand for semiconductors, machine tools, molding machines and hydropower-related products was strong for general bearing equipment. Automotive bearing equipment benefited from growth in the Indian market, new projects, expansion in new energy vehicle-related business with non-Japanese manufacturers in China, and the foreign exchange impact of the weaker yen. Structural equipment posted lower revenue and profit due to project delays caused by soaring construction and building-material prices and labor shortages.

The reasons the company gives

The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.

General bearing equipment and automotive bearing equipment grew on increased demand for semiconductors, machine tools, molding machines, hydropower-related products and automotive-related products, while structural equipment was affected by project delays caused by soaring construction and building-material prices and labor shortages. The decreases in operating profit and other items were affected by higher selling, general and administrative expenses, increased foreign exchange losses and losses related to compensation for delivery delays.
