「The KeePer LABO operations business is expected to experience a temporary slowdown in sales as external factors overlap, including reputational damage related to Bigmotor, weather conditions and a year-on-year decline following the surge in new-car sales in the previous period.」
Reputational damage related to Bigmotor's similar product, which the company had explained in the previous quarter had no longer affected sales, was again identified as a factor behind the downward revision to the full-year earnings forecast, along with weather conditions and a reactionary decline following the previous period's surge in new-car sales. - FY2024-Q2MitigatedAnnual report
「Beginning in October, we launched a positive campaign called the "Autumn Fair" targeting approximately 360,000 customers who had visited all LABO stores during the previous 2 years, and sent direct mail clarifying that Bigmotor's "Diamond Coat" and KeePer's "Diamond KeePer" are different products. This dispelled concerns about Diamond KeePer, and the situation fully returned to normal.」

「The LABO operations business made an excellent start in July, with revenue up 24.0% year on year, but from August a change emerged, with the number of Diamond KeePer series applications declining year on year. This was because Bigmotor's "Diamond Coat" and KeePer's "Diamond KeePer" were similar products. The impact was particularly pronounced at stores in Tokyo, Yokohama and Osaka and continued until mid-September, with year-on-year revenue growth falling to 13.0% in August and the first half of September. Assuming that the July year-on-year revenue growth rate had continued without this adverse impact, the company estimates the resulting decline at ¥117 million. This revenue shortfall occurred while selling, general and administrative expenses remained at levels that did not assume the adverse impact, and therefore reduced gross profit by an estimated ¥105 million that otherwise would have been generated.」
Confusion with Bigmotor's similar product caused the number of Diamond KeePer series applications to decline from August, with a pronounced impact on sales in Tokyo, Yokohama and Osaka. The company estimates the revenue shortfall at ¥117 million and the reduction in gross profit at ¥105 million. It explained that, after posting messages on its website and in-store posters on 15 September, the impact had largely disappeared.
