「Our company and consolidated subsidiaries previously used the declining-balance method to depreciate building fixtures and structures, but changed to the straight-line method from the current first quarter of the fiscal year. This change was made because, following a review of the actual use of building fixtures and structures prompted by the formulation of the Seventh Medium-Term Management Plan, we determined that, like buildings, they are expected to be used steadily over the long term regardless of revenue or equipment operating conditions, with their economic benefits consumed evenly. Accordingly, we determined that adopting the straight-line method as the depreciation method was reasonable from the perspective of allocating costs and would more appropriately reflect the underlying business reality.」
Prompted by the formulation of the Seventh Medium-Term Management Plan, it investigated actual usage and changed the depreciation method for building fixtures and structures from the declining-balance method to the straight-line method.
