The reasons the company gives
The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.Demand recovered in the industrial equipment markets in Japan and Asia (excluding Japan), and revenue increased due to foreign currency translation resulting from yen depreciation. In terms of profit, although foreign exchange movements resulting from the peso's appreciation in the North American market put pressure on profit, earnings improved due to higher-margin sales from increased revenue, an improved product mix, and global cost-reduction initiatives. In addition, the yen's depreciation from the end of the previous fiscal year caused ordinary profit and profit attributable to owners of the parent to exceed the previous year's results.
