The reasons the company gives
The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.Demand remained firm in the information and communications-related business, automotive-related business, industrial materials-related business and other areas. In addition, the effects of the weaker yen and higher copper prices more than offset the decline in some sales and higher costs resulting from the situation in the Middle East, causing first-quarter consolidated results to exceed the assumptions underlying the previous forecast. The revision also reflects the outlook for demand from the second quarter onward and the impact of the situation in the Middle East.
