The reasons the company gives
The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.Sales volume increased 6.3% year on year, and revenue and operating profit increased as copper, the principal raw material, remained at high price levels. However, ordinary profit and net income declined because derivative transactions used to hedge the risk of fluctuations in copper prices resulted in a derivative loss of ¥1,703 million. For the next fiscal year, copper and electrolytic zinc prices are assumed to be higher than the current fiscal year's actual levels, with no market-price gains or derivative losses assumed for the current fiscal year.
