Factors Behind Changes in Business Performance

Industrial Machinery recorded declines in both revenue and profit due to lower construction progress for crushed-stone plants, pump plants and bridge construction, among other factors. Rock Drill and Unic recorded increases in both revenue and profit due mainly to higher shipments, particularly overseas. Metals recorded higher revenue due to increases in overseas market prices. Electronics and Chemicals recorded increases in both revenue and profit due to the recovery in semiconductor-related demand, higher sales volumes and higher selling prices, among other factors. Real Estate recorded higher revenue as operating rates improved due to a lower office vacancy rate. Ordinary income increased due to higher equity in earnings of affiliates accounted for using the equity method, but net income declined due to lower gains on sales of investment securities and the recognition of provisions for environmental measures and income tax expense.

The reasons the company gives

The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.

For the fiscal year ended March 2026, the Rock Drill, Unic, Metals, Electronics, Chemicals and Real Estate segments recorded increases in both revenue and profit, while the Industrial Machinery segment recorded declines in both revenue and profit. Ordinary income increased due to higher equity in earnings of affiliates accounted for using the equity method. Net income attributable to owners of the parent declined because gains on sales of investment securities decreased from the previous year, and special losses, including the provision for environmental measures, and income tax expense were recorded. For the fiscal year ending March 2027, revenue is expected to increase following the consolidation of アーステクニカ, while委託損益 is expected to deteriorate due to weaker purchasing terms for copper concentrate, the loss of the profit contribution from price differentials recorded in the current fiscal year, lower equity in earnings of affiliates accounted for using the equity method, and lower gains on sales of cross-shareholdings.
