The reasons the company gives
The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.Although demand related to automobiles recovered gradually, demand related to semiconductors excluding AI-related applications remained weak. Higher copper and gold prices, increased sales volumes and the effects of price increases in the copper processing business, and the consolidation of H.C. Starck Holding as a consolidated subsidiary pushed up profit. These factors were partly offset by lower gold production, deterioration in copper treatment and refining charges (TC/RC), the suspension of operations at the Appi Geothermal Power Plant, and impairment losses associated with structural reforms.
