Revised forecast
Fiscal year ending March 2027 · Six months and full yearThe bar length represents the relative magnitude of change, based on the item that changed the most in this document.
The company expects higher sales and earnings as the effects of the blast furnace trouble and fire in the domestic steel products business are resolved. The blast furnace resumed operations in April 2026, but stable operations and the normalization of orders are expected to take some time. Accordingly, the improvement in the first quarter is expected to be limited, with earnings forecast to recover from the second quarter. Net income attributable to owners of the parent is expected to increase only slightly year on year due to the elimination of foreign exchange gains recorded in the previous fiscal year and a smaller tax effect.
Accident-related loss: ¥900 million. Costs related to restoration following the blast furnace trouble in September 2025 and the hot-blast stove trouble in December 2025.

The reasons the company gives
The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.Lower demand in the domestic steel products business, together with reduced sales volume and lower productivity resulting from blast furnace trouble and a fire at the Muroran complex, caused net sales and operating income to decline. Net income increased due to the elimination of the extraordinary loss associated with the withdrawal from the German spring-making subsidiary in the previous fiscal year, gains on the sale of fixed assets and tax effects related to the sale of a Mexican subsidiary.
